TELANGANA ACB UNEARTHS ASSETS WORTH OVER ₹13 CRORE; MARKET VALUE MAY EXCEED ₹100 CRORE IN DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE AGAINST SENIOR OFFICIAL

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate assets case against Deputy Director Sunkari Narahari Rao and uncovered cash, deposits, precious metals, luxury property holdings, and other assets worth over ₹13 crore. Officials estimate the market value of the properties could exceed ₹100 crore as investigations continue.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Sunkari Narahari Rao, Deputy Director, Multi Zone-II, Survey and Land Records Department, Hyderabad, alleging that he accumulated assets far beyond his known sources of income during his tenure in government service.

As part of the investigation, the ACB conducted coordinated searches on Tuesday at the officer’s residence and nine other locations linked to his relatives, associates, and suspected proxy holders. The searches were carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

During the raids, investigators discovered documents related to multiple immovable properties. These included five open plots in Ranga Reddy district, 1.24 acres of agricultural land at Maheshwaram, a 2,500-square-foot flat at Puppalaguda, two flats measuring 1,860 square feet each at Narsingi, and another flat at Rajendra Nagar.

Officials also identified records relating to a ground-plus-three-storey building located in TNGOs Colony, Gachibowli, and a ground-plus-two-storey residential building in Chatrinaka.

According to the ACB, the searches resulted in the detection of net cash amounting to approximately ₹1.54 crore, bank balances of ₹2.29 crore, fixed deposits worth ₹5.04 crore, gold ornaments weighing around 1.3 kilograms, and approximately 8 kilograms of silver.

Investigators further found two bank lockers held in the name of the officer’s wife. The lockers are yet to be opened and will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

A luxury vehicle, identified as a Kia Carens Smartstream G1.5 6MT, was also discovered during the searches.

The ACB has estimated the value of the assets detected so far at approximately ₹13.05 crore based on available records. However, officials noted that the market value of the immovable properties is likely to be substantially higher than the documented value. According to current market trends, the total market value of the properties may exceed ₹100 crore.

“The case is under investigation and verification of additional assets is continuing,” the ACB stated.

Following the searches, the accused officer was produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally and was remanded to judicial custody.

The action forms part of a broader anti-corruption drive launched by the Telangana ACB against senior public officials. Over the past month, the agency has intensified its crackdown on disproportionate assets cases involving high-ranking government officers.

Earlier, the anti-corruption authority arrested Roads and Buildings Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik Jarupla, Hyderabad Water Board General Manager Saggam Anantha Lakshmi Kumar, and Additional Superintendent of Police N. Bhujanga Rao. Investigations into those cases also revealed substantial disproportionate assets, and all the officials are currently facing legal proceedings.

The latest case underscores the scale of the ongoing anti-corruption campaign in Telangana, with investigators continuing to trace assets, examine financial records, and verify additional holdings linked to public servants accused of amassing wealth beyond their lawful income.
